Surgical Services for Pets

We prioritize your pet's comfort and care from surgery to recovery.

Our surgical suite is modern and comparable to human hospitals. The room and surgical tools are always clean and sanitized to prepare for all procedures. We take special precautions and ensure pet owners are well-informed about the procedure. Our team is always available to answer any questions you have about your pet’s upcoming surgery.

How safe is surgery for pets?

We prioritize your pet’s well-being during every visit and take extra precautions when performing surgery. At our clinic, we perform pre-anesthetic bloodwork as it can show underlying health issues that can cause complications. We may perform other diagnostic tests to assess the functionality of essential organs like the kidneys and liver that metabolize the anesthetic. If our tests show anything concerning, we will reschedule the procedure and treat that new health problem.

Once your pet is deemed a good candidate for surgery, our team will take them to our surgery suite. When we administer the anesthesia, a veterinary technician will monitor the patient’s vital signs to see how they are handling the medicine. Our surgeons are meticulous during surgery and always use modern techniques to limit the time your pet is under the anesthetic. After surgery, we monitor your pet until the anesthesia wears off and prescribe medications to help with recovery.

How can I prepare my pet for surgery?

Our team may have special preparations for your pet depending on the procedure. In general, food should be withheld from your pet by midnight before the day of surgery. Eating before surgery can result in vomiting. We also recommend that you keep your pet’s vaccinations updated before they have surgery. Our team will inform you if there are special preparations for your pet. To learn more, please reach out to us at 519-389-2020.
